Rich Chey unveiled his new concept Dragon Bowl at the Emory Village location on Tuesday, July 22nd.

The former Doc Chey’s Noodle House at Emory Village has transformed into a new restaurant concept that focuses on customized bowls piled high with grilled protein, whole grains and a variety of locally grown/seasonal ingredients.  Dragon Bowls were first introduced as rotating specials at Doc Chey’s to an overwhelmingly positive response.

Dragon Bowl’s motto is “Keep it Simple.  Keep it Fresh.  Keep it Real.

To build a Dragon Bowl, guests choose a base (ramen, dragon rice blend, vermicelli or fresh salad), a protein (grilled chicken, ribeye, pork belly or marinated tofu), two veggies (seasonal selection), and sauce (Chipotle Hoisin, Japanese Teriyaki, Korean BBQ, Nuoc Cham, Satay Peanut).

In lieu of fountain drinks sweetened with corn syrup, Dragon Bowl will offer a rotating variety of Certified Organic and Fair-Trade iced and hot teas, and craft sodas sweetened with pure cane sugar.  Adults will be able to enjoy local and imported beers, wine and infused sake.

Dragon Bowl’s interior will echo its beloved Emory Village neighborhood with a funky, urban vibe.  Decor highlights include a chalkboard wall featuring daily menu specials and a mural created by renowned local graffiti artist Brandon Sadler of Rising Red Lotus.  The mural depicts a guardian dragon who watches over guests.

Dragon Bowl has made a commitment to sustainability with its use of biodegradable take-out packaging and dinnerware that is made from bamboo, a renewable material.  In the tradition of HomeGrown Restaurants, it will continue the company’s commitment to fostering good karma in the communities it serves by supporting local charitable organizations and schools.  100% of proceeds from Dragon Bowl’s grand opening will be donated to help build an organic garden at Fernbank Elementary School.

Dragon Bowl is located at 1556 N. Decatur Road, Atlanta, Ga., 30307, only 1.8 miles from Doc Chey’s Morningside.  The restaurant will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
